I’ve been working on this topic with colleagues Jim O’Driscoll and Matt Evans for a number of years. As well as publishing academic papers and editing the Routledge Handbook of Language in Conflict, we have engaged in a number of practical activities aiming to bring an understanding of language to the process of mediation in conflict situations from the most local (e.g. family or neighbourhood conflict) to the highest level (e.g. international conflict). There is much still to be done.
We run workshops for community, family and workplace mediators (get in touch if you want to find out more) and are working on bringing our languageinconflict.org website up to date. It has a lot of interesting articles and information, so do take a look.
